My dog and I had such a great time last year!!! It was so amazing to see these dogs who have never even been on surf board before... and even though there were so many dogs, they all seemed to get along and it was just a great event! I can't wait for this year... I know that it will only get better and bigger as the years go by!! Thank you Loews Coronado for putting this together and doing it for a great cause, no less!!!
i've never been to one of these and i have a few questions: when you refer to teams, is that a dog and owner team? or can you have a team of several dogs? if so, do those dogs all need to ride together on one board, or on separate boards at the same time? or can 2 or three dogs be on a team, but surf separately? is there a fee for practice only? if so, can that be applied to the competition, if you chose to compete on the day of the event? thanks.

Optional surfing lessons are available on August 18 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This service is included with the registration fee. If you'd like to practice before the event, surf dog lessons can be purchased with the Coronado Surfing Academy at 619-293-3883. Thanks!
Loews Coronado Bay Resort & the Coronado Surfing Academy will provide an INT softboard for dogs & owners to surf on, but please feel free to bring your own as well. Thanks!

i am interested in trying this out this year, sounds like fun. usually dogs are not allowed off leash on this beach. do you know if they will be making an exception on the day of the event? or must dogs stay on-leash until they are competing?

Wow I thought last year was great… Tj and gang had so much fun being with all the tail wagers out there. Loews Coronado Bay Resort sure left a deep paw print on sooo many hearts and smiles everywhere both human and wagging kind. Thanks to all my fellow competitors and friends and all the cool people (ok it was alittle cold for JUNE) Hopefully next year we will get some sun time! Thanks again Tj and Team
Years ago, I saw a dog surfing in Hawaii and decided that I could do it too. Soon after, I founded Las Olas Surf Safaris for women. I'm a big fan of surfing dogs.

This is very cool! I have a dog...Coda...loves the water!She is the size of a Welsh Corgi but size doesnt stop her..she jumps(springs) 4' high to get up into our above ground pool! Once she gets in the pool she grabs the boogie board leash swims it to the ladder than climbs up the ladder, drops the leash and steps onto the boogie board! She loves floating around the pool on it...has never been trained to do this just something she picked up on her own! I would bet she would love to surf but I dont surf so I am looking for maybe a sponsor or someone that would like to work with her:) Any Ideas??

Can dogs take the surf lesson but not compete in either of the heats? Our dog is a kayaker but hasn't been surfing yet :)
